Gx211.com: 'Shangdian Cup' Chorus Contest of 2018 Held Successfully

On June 22, 2018, the "Shangdian Cup" Chorus Contest themed on promoting the spirit of the new era and demonstrating the style of electricity industry staff was held at Yangpu campus of Shanghai University of Electric Power successfully. The contest was hosted by Shanghai University of Electric Power, co-organized by State Grid Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company, SEP, China Huanneng Group East China Branch and China Huadian Corporation Shanghai Branch, and over 140 staff from the above companies participated in the contest.

 

All the participating teams appeared on the stage in accordance with the order of lot drawing. The faculty chorus from Shanghai University of Electric Power sang two songs including "Bright Red Sun in China Never Falls" and "The Land", which demonstrated the magnificent landscape of the motherland and the marvelous Chinese civilization. The chorus from China Huadian Corporation Shanghai Branch brought a famous song titled "Tale of Springtime" in memory of a great leader in China as well as a period of history marking the opening up and reform in China, and they also presented an original song titled "This is You & Me", which reflected the company's original intention, willingness and attitude to assume social responsibility. The chorus from China Huanneng Group East China Branch performed two songs including "Homeland Will Never Forget" and "My Motherland and Me", which called on everyone to remember the history, revolutionary martyrs as well as their great contributions to the founding of new China. The chorus from State Grid Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company performed a song named "March into the New Era", which showed great vitality of the new age, and they also presented an a cappella version of "Country", which enchanted the audience with the endless charm of the singing style.

 

Besides the above four teams, the young singers from SEP brought two original songs titled "Dream of Blue Sky" and "Our Dream" showing their dreams as electricity workers. The song "Invisible Wings" from Deng Jiaxin, a graduate student from Shanghai University of Electric Power who has been shortlisted for the Shanghai area audition for "The Voice of China" in 2018, impressed the audience with unique audio-visual experience.

 

Following the evaluation by a panel of three professional judges from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, China Huanneng Group East China Branch was honored the first prize, State Grid Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company was awarded the second prize, China Huadian Corporation Shanghai Branch and Shanghai University of Electric Power both won the third prizes, and SEP was granted the best performance award.

 

The contest not only demonstrated the positive energy and united team spirit of the electricity industry staff in Shanghai, but also created a sound platform to enhance their humanistic quality, artistic culture and aesthetic appreciation.
