Special skill: Development and Application of Standby Redundancy Technology on Control Valve Positioner of High Pressure Bypass System

The QC squad of thermal control team is mainly engaged in the spot check, maintenance and optimization of thermal measurement, thermal protection and thermal automatic control equipment and system on the turbines, boilers and generators of the two 630 MW supercritical units and two 700 MW ultra-supercritical units of Tianji Power Plant.

 

 

Unit 1 and Unit 2 of the power plant once suffered from fairly high fault rate on the control valve positioner of high pressure bypass system. When the unit conducted fault correcting and adjusting of positioner in operation, it would cause disordered opening and closing of control valve of high pressure bypass system, which would affect power generation output in less severe cases and even lead to forced outage in more severe cases. The QC squad of thermal control team adopted standby redundancy technology in an innovative way, and finally solved this problem.

 

 

While developing this skill, the QC squad members carried out a series of activities to address frequent faults of control valve positioner of high pressure bypass system of Unit 1 and Unit 2 as well as the fact that adjusting of control valve positioner of high pressure bypass system was prohibited during the operation of the units. After repeated experiments, they confirmed the double redundancy manual switch structure in standby redundancy mode as the best solution, and then worked out corresponding measure and put it into practice.
