Qian Zhimin, Wang Yundan Meet Pakistani, Maltese Energy Ministers

From October 18-19, 2018, the "Belt and Road" Energy Ministerial Conference and International Forum on Energy Transitions were held in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province. Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a letter to warmly congratulate the convening of the conference. State Councilor Wang Yong attended the opening ceremony, read out Xi's congratulatory letter and delivered a speech. SPIC Chairman and Secretary of Party Leadership Group Qian Zhimin was also present at the conference.


On October 19, Qian Zhimin, accompanied by SEP Chairman and Party Secretary Wang Yundan, met with Omar Ayub Khan, Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division) of Pakistan, and Joe Mizzi, Minister for Energy and Water Management of Malta respectively, who were invited to attend the conference, and conducted in-depth communication on further deepening energy project cooperation between SPIC and the two countries.



In meeting with Omar Ayub Khan, Qian Zhimin said that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic partners, and SPIC is willing to carry out comprehensive cooperation in electricity with Pakistan, and make greater contributions to enhancing bilateral traditional friendship and deepening practical cooperation. Omar expressed that the new administration of Pakistan attaches great importance to all-round cooperation with China, and will adhere to the principle of openness and transparency, and deepen electricity project investment cooperation jointly with Chinese enterprises such as SPIC.


During the talk with Mizzi, Qian extended thanks to the minister for speaking highly of SPIC's investment and development achievements in Malta in his address at the opening ceremony. He noted that SPIC's energy cooperation project in Malta has a solid foundation with smooth development and remarkable result, and SPIC hopes to conduct broader cooperation in renewable energy technology application and other fields with Malta, and further expand electricity cooperation in the other European countries based on Mozura Wind Power Project in Montenegro. Mizzi hailed the cooperation between SPIC and Enemalta as an industrial cooperation model between the two countries, and hoped that SPIC will continue to participate in the energy research and planning work for the future of Malta, and both sides will deepen energy cooperation constantly.
